RESUMPTION OF TTFI ACTIVITIES

NOTICE

TO ALL CONCERNED

Some of you must be following the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) advisories on discontinued/suspended activities posted on its site, from time to time. ITTF has suspended all tournaments up to July 31, 2020, because of the situation in the wake of COVID-19 globally.

However, the international federation is gearing up for future activities and is expected to come up with a truncated calendar of events for the remainder of 2020 by June 30, 2020. First and foremost, we need to plan things for our Olympics-bound athletes who very badly need international exposures. The ITTF calendar, thus, remains important to determine when and how our top players can begin their participation to get match-fit so that they can qualify for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Meanwhile, the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) is also working on ways and means to begin our domestic events for the 2020 season. But we don’t know what it will entail and how soon the resumption of activities can take place. Even otherwise, all this will depend and based on the ITTF calendar as we may need to squeeze in national ranking tournaments and the three important nationals before next March. Before that, we also need to give time for our state units to conduct their ranking events and state championships.

Keeping all these in mind, we are going to prepare our national calendar soon after the ITTF comes out with its own. Hopefully, things will pan out to our advantage and all of us will be able to hit the groove soon.

Till then, keep yourself fit and safe in home conditions and watch out this space for further announcements.
