Indian challenge ends

Subic Bay (Philippines): The Indian challenge ended in the GAC Group ITTF World tour Philippines Open table tennis tournament here on Saturday.

 

Both Soumyajit Ghosh and Harmeet Desai bowed out in the pre-quarterfinals in the singles eventi.However, they put up a better show in the doubles by reaching the semifinals where they lost to Koriyoma Hokuto and kenta Tozoe of Japan 7-11, 11-6, 14-12, 12-8. The Indian pair had beaten Jiang Tianyi and Ng pak Nam of Hong Kong in the quarterfinals.

 

in the singles Soumyajit Ghosh went down fighting to Koriyama Hokuto of Japan. Koriyama won 11-7, 11-2, 9- 11, 11-9, 9-11, 14-12 to enter quarterfinals.

 

Wn Chih Chi of Chinese Taipei beat Harmeet Desai 11-6, 8-11, 11-6, 11-4, 12-10 in the pre-quarterfinals.
