Subic Bay (Philippines): Soumyajt Ghosh and Harmeet Desai of India entered the second round of the ITTF World Tour Philippines Open TT championship here on Saturday.

In the first round, Soumyajit scored a straight set win over Yuki Matsuyama of Japan 11-9, 11-7, 11-7, 11-6. Harmeet, who qualified for the main draw, also beat a Japanese but player was made to work hard for his win. Harmeet won 13-11, 13-11, 11-8, 4-11, 9-11, 11-4 to move into the next round.

Earlier, Harmeet qualified for the main draw after finishing second in his group behind NG Pak Nam of Hong Kong.
