COIMBATORE, JULY 30, 2013 :Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., under the aegis of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB), will be hosting the XXXIII PSPB Inter-Unit Table Tennis Tournament for the year 2013-14 from July 31 to August 4, 2013 at Coimbatore.

Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) has been set up in 1979 with an objective to encourage and organise various sports and games. Over the years, it has grown in stature to become one of the leading sports organisations in the country. It organises inter unit tournaments in various indoor/outdoor games every year amongst its member organisations from India’s Oil, Gas and related Sector.

HPCL is a mega integrated oil refining and marketing company in India with a Navratna status. HPCL maintains high standards of safety, health and environmental care at all its operating locations.

Under CSR, we take young promising boys and girls on Contract / Scholarship basis, preferably from the economically weaker strata, and nurture them to grow to the international standards by providing them financial assistance.

HPCL, who is a member of PSPB, has been entrusted with the responsibility of hosting the PSPB Inter-Unit Table Tennis Tournament for the year 2013-14. The tournament will be conducted at GRD College, Avinashi Road, Coimbatore 641 014.

The inauguration of the tournament will be held on July 31, 2013 at 10.00 a.m. Shri S. T. Sathiavageeswaran, Executive Director – Information System of HPCL will inaugurate the tournament.

We expect about 75 to 80 players from the Member organisations of PSPB to participate in the tournament. India’s national and international players such as Sharath Kamal, Soumyajit Ghosh, Amalraj, Soumyadeep Roy, Mouma Das, K. Shamini, Neha Aggarwal, Ankita Das, Poulomy Ghatak will be participating in this tournament.

HPCL team will be represented by Contract/Scholarship players Harmeet Desai, Abhishek Yadav and Surojit Das in Men’s team and N. Vidya, Senhora D’Souza and Narasimha Priya in Women’s team.

HPCL’s Contract player Harmeet Desai who is ranked fourth in India, has been selected as a member of the Indian team to participate in the international Table Tennis tournament being held at Brazil in August 2013. Hence, this tournament will be truly a treat for all the lovers of the Game.

The Prize Distribution function will be held on August 4, 2013 at 4.30 p.m. Shri K.V. Rao, Director (Finance) of HPCL has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest at the function.
