Sharath, Sathiyan retain WR spots; Manika gains a place to be at No. 51

 

 

Cuttack, January 4: A. Sharath Kamal at NO. 30 and G. Sathiyan at No. 31 have retained their world ranking places, as per the ITTF rankings released for January. The two players lead way above the third Indian, Harmeet Desai, the only other paddler to be among top 100 in the world.

 

Manika Batra has just gained a spot and is placed at No. 51 and the lone Indian figuring in the top-100 list while the rest of Indian paddler, including those competed at the CWG and Asian Games, far behind Manika.

 

In Under-21 Men and Under-21 Women, there are as many as four male and three female players with Manav Thakkar at No. 17, having gained three places from his previous No. 21. Following the Indian is Ronit Bhanja (No. 34 from No. 41), Jeet Chandra (No. 46 from No. 56) and Siddesh Pandey (No. 52 from No. 66), showing great improvement. Among the women Selenadeepthi Selvakumar is at No. 31 while both Moumita Dutta and Archana Kamath are joint 32 and they are followed by Sreeja Akula at 62.

 

In Under-18 Boys and Girls, three Indians each are among the top 100, having shown improvement after their performances in the ITTF Junior pro-tours. Manush Shah is placed at No. 10 from his previous No. 28 while Raegan Alburqueque is behind him at No. 57 followed by Payas Jain, who is at No. 93. This was the first time Payas has broken into the top 100 in the category.

 

Among girls, Swastika Ghosh has gained 18 places to be at 32 with Prapti Sen who won the National title during the Junior Nationals, is at No. 55 and Diya, who broke into the top 100, is at No. 72.

 

Payas Jain is the only Indian to be among the top-10 in the Under-15 Boys, having gained 13 spots with Aadarshan Om Chetri (40), Jash Modi (50) and Vishwa Deenadaylan at 54 while in the girls’ section, Anargaya Manjunath leads the chart for Indians at No. 50, having a big jump after being at No. 97 previously. Suhana Saini is in second spot behind Anargaya at No. 51 from her previous No. 98.Shreya Sivakumar and Kavyashree Baskar follow them at 80 and 85, respectively.
