India Club wishes paddlers well

New Delhi, May 2: It was a nice gesture on the part of expats living in Dubai to honour the Indian players, both current and former, along with some of the TTFI officials at a gala function held in their honour by India Club at Dubai.

The expats, who are a part and parcel of the India Club, organize regular functions with many of whom keen followers of table tennis. And that is what brought them together to invite the players who were in Dubai for the Asian Cup. The function, which included a dinner hosted in honour of the players, were appreciated by one and all as the expats recalled the exploits of former national champion Kamlesh Mehta, who was also present on the occasion.

Recalling the recent performance of the Indian paddlers—Achanta Sharath Kamal, Soumyajit Ghosh and Manika Batra participated in Asian Cup—who qualified for the Olympics at Rio, Simon Varella and Naresh J. Mohanni praised the progress the Indian table tennis has made over the years. They also recalled the services of the TTFI which was in the forefront of making the right plans for the young up-and-coming paddlers.

As a parting shot, the expats said that their prayers and wishes were with the Indians to succeed at Rio Games.
