Vipin for Paris Olympics

New Delhi: The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) nominated Vipin Mehra to officiate as a technical official for the 2024 Paris Olympics recently.

Though the Indian will have the taste of officiating at the Olympics for the first time, Mehra has the experience of officiating in three World Championships, two Commonwealth Games, World Cups, Asian Championships and numerous other international championships.

Mehra, an accomplished gold badge umpire and the only one from India, admitted that it will be a rare honour in his career as an umpire. "I have officiated in several events abroad, but this will be different," he said.

A former employee of the Railways, Mehra is a vice-president of the Delhi State Table Tennis Association. He recently obtained Grade A in the examination conducted at the National Referees' Seminar at Dharwad, Karnataka.

President Meghna Ahlawat and Secretary General Kamlesh Mehta congratulated Mehra and wished success in the French capital.
