TT's one man army Ranga is no more

 

Veteran sport administrator and the only founding member of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) in India, T.D. Ranga Ramanujam, breathed his last at his Cuddalore home yesterday.

PARA TABLE TENNIS TRAILS INUGURATED

 

The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) will select a 15-member Para table tennis team to represent India at the Asian Para Table Tennis Championships to be held in China between October 16 and 20.

Brave Abhishek Bows Out With Bronze at Games

 

Abhishek Yadav fought valiantly against world No. 1 and top-seeded Chinese Zhendong Fan before bowing out 2-4 (4-11, 13-11, 13-11, 4-11, 8-11, 7-11) in the semi-final of men’s singles event at the second Asian Youth Games here tonight. But with no play-offs, the Indian ensured himself a bronze medal on his maiden appearance at the Games.

Abhishek Yadav, playing a marathon fifth game, defeated Malaysia’s Dunley Foo to enter the semi-finals of the men’s singles, thus ensuring himself at least a bronze medal at the ongoing second Asian Youth Games here this morning.

It was a mixed bag for the two-member Indian table tennis team at the second Asian Youth Games here as Abhishek Yadav entered to the quarterfinals in the men’s singles to keep India’s medal hope in the sport, while it was curtains for Suthirtha Mukherjee, who bowed out in the pre-quarterfinals here this evening.

Junior Paddlers Win Bagful of Medals

 

Continuing their winning ways, Indian juniors claimed all but one title at the ITTF El Salvador Junior and Cadet Open table tennis championships which concluded on Friday night. The Indian paddlers had earlier won both the team titles in the Cadet sections.

In what turned out to be a pure Indian show, India’s junior paddlers won both the Cadet Boys and Cadet Girls team titles in at the El Salvador Junior and Cadet Open Table Tennis championships on Wednesday night.

 India celebrated a rare success securing both the U-21 men’s singles and U-21 women’s singles titles at the GAC Group 2013 ITTF World Tour Brazil Open at Santos.

Indian paddlers are making their presence felt at the ITTF World Tour Brazil Open being played at Santos as Harmeet Desai entered the Semi finals of the men’s singles today. Not to be left behind, both Manika Batra and Ankita Das too made it to the last four in the women’s singles.
