Ghosh goes down fighting at Games

 

Soumyajit Ghosh, despite taking the first game rather easily, went down fighting in the second round to end India's table tennis challenge at the Games here this afternoon. Ghosh lost 1-4 (11-9, 6-11, 5-11, 9-11, 7-11) to North Korea's Hyok Bong Kim at the ExCel centre.

Ghosh moves into second round; error-prone Ankita exits

 

Soumyajit Ghosh kept India's table tennis challenge alive as he moved into the second round of the main draw when he beat Gustavo Tsuboi of Brazil 4-2 (11-9, 14-12, 7-11, 12-10, 5-11, 12-10) in a keen contest that lasted nearly 90 minutes on table two at the ExCel centre here tonight.

DOHA, May 11: Achanta Sharath Kamal, keeping his slate clean, defeated Kazakhstan's Kirill Gerassimenkno 4-0 (11-6, 11-5, 11-7, 11-7) to top group 7 and enter the round of 32 at the World Olympic Qualification Championships here this evening. And joining him in the main draw was Anthony Amalraj who, despite losing to Wu Chi Chi 2-4 (5-11, 18-16, 11-6, 11-7, 4-11, 11-8), finished behind the Chinese Taipei paddler, who won all his matches in group 2.

Junior girls win silver in Spain

 

 India's A team girls had to settle for silver at the Spanish Junior and Cadet Open Table Tennis championships at Girona (Spain) after losing to Japan 0-3 while the boys failed to progress beyond the quarter-finals, according to reports reaching here.
