Ayhika wins jnnior girls' title at Senec

 

Ayhika Mukherjee defeated Leila Imre of Hungary to win the junior girls crown at the 2014 Slovak Open IIT Junior Circuit table tennis championships at Senec on Sunday night.

Junior paddlers leave for Slovak and Polish Open

 

An eight-member team of paddlers left for the Slovak Open ITTF global Junior Circuit table tennis championships to be held at Senec from today. The team, comprising five boys and five girls, will also travel to Wladyslawowo in Poland subsequently to play in a premium event in Poland beginning May 28.

Women paddlers fail to cross QF hurdle

 

India's challenge at the World Table Tennis championships ended after the women were beaten in the quarterfinals by Brazil 3-1 here today. After a brilliant performance in group events of Stage 1 in second division, the Indian girls were expected to give some fight in the knockout stage. But, except for Manika Batra, who is in the best form of her life, none of the other girls could withstand the pressure built by the Brazilians.

Indian men paddlers bow out to Egypt

 

India's men bowed out of the World Table Tennis Championships after they were blanked out by Egypt 3-0 in second division of Stage 2 here today. This would mean that the men’s team, which had finished 27 in the last worlds two years ago in Germany, will end up in the 32-36 brackets at these championships.

Women, Men enter Stage 2 knockouts

 

Indian women, continuing with their good form, defeated Bulgaria 3-2 to top group G in second division and enter Stage 2 of the World Table Tennis Championships here today. The men’s team, who blanked out Paraguay 3-0, also qualified for the main draw as the second team from group F.

Women paddlers show guts, Men falter against Italy

 

India's women paddlers passed the Italian test, scoring their fourth consecutive victory (3-1) while their men’s team botched up, losing to the European team 2-3 in Stage 1 of the second division group matches at the World Table Tennis Championships here today.
