Singapore and India A teams win junior titles

 

Singapore A defeated the combination of Iran-Kazakhstan 3-1 to win the Junior Boys team gold at the 2014 Indian Junior and Cadet Open Table Tennis Championships at the Mukherjee Stadium here today.

GTTA BIDS TO HOST COMMONWEALTH TT; ACADEMY IN PIPELINE

 

Goa could well be the city to host next year’s Commonwealth Table Tennis championships. According to Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) secretary-general Dhanraj Choudhary, the Goa Table Tennis Association (GTTA) is one of the bidders to host the event.

Sharath to lead team at Tokyo world championships

 

Take the recent form of players as the yardstick, the selection committee has picked a five-member men's team-A. Sharath Kamal (ranked 54), Soumyajit Ghosh (117), Harmeet Desai (143), Anthony Amalraj (163) and Sanil Shetty (227)-for the World Table Tennis championships to be held at Tokyo from April 28 to May 5. There are 120 teams in men and 110 in women sections competing at the worlds.

Tristan Flore of France won the Under 21 Men’s Singles title beating India's Harmeet Desai at the $3.5 million ITTF World Tour Qatar Open in Doha on Saturday night.

Harmeet Desai entered the final of the under 21 men’s singles final beating Brazilian Hugo Calderano 11-6, 11-4, 11-8, 11-5 at the $3.5 million Qatar Open Super Series Table Tennis Championships at Qatar on Friday night.
