Sathiyan-Amalraj pair wins bronze

 

The Indian pair of G. Sathiyan and Anthony Amalraj ended their World Tour Platinum Australian Open with a bronze medal for them when they went down 12-14, 9-11, 8-11 to the top-seeded Korean pair of Jeoung Youngsik and Lee Sangsu on Friday afternoon.

The Indian challenge at the Budapest 2019 ITTF World Championships came to an end when G. Sathiyan failed to go past Hugo Calderano of Brazil in men singles round of 32.

Indian qualifier Suthirta Mukherjee scripted a fantastic 4-3 win in what was the biggest women singles upset caused in the 2019 ITTF World Championships at Budapest so far when she sent world No. 58 Sabine Winter of Germany packing today.

Sathiyan ends sixth, books World Cup berth

 

Fresh from his recent men singles title win at the Challenge Plus Oman Open, 17-year-old Lin Yun-Ju of Chinese Taipei proved far superior to 26-year-old G. Sathiyan as the former defeated the Indian 4-0 (11-4, 11-8, 11-8, 14-12) to finish fifth in the ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup at Yokohama on Sunday.
