Harmeet earns 2nd national title, Poymantee her first


Panchkula, December 22: Top seed Harmeet defeated second seed G. Sathiyan 4-3 to claim his second men’s singles title in the 85th UTT Senior Nationals and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships at the Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium today.

 

The women’s singles crown went to Poymantee Baisya of the Railways, another new face to claim it with some authority. She defeated Ayhika Mukherjee 4-2.

Prithoki topples Manika, other seeds follow the top seed into the hut


Panchkula, December 21: Top seed Manika Batra spent the shortest time of her career in any National event as she went down 2-3 (7-11, 11-4, 10-12, 11-8, 8-11) to unseeded teenager Prithoki Chakraborty of Haryana in the second round of the women’s singles in the 85th UTT Senior Nationals and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships at the Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium today.

Harmeet and Manika get top-seed positions


Panchkula, December 20: Harmeet Desai, the highest-ranked Indian in the world at No. 75, has got the top slot in the men's singles seeding of the 85th UTT Senior Nationals and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships, the knockout rounds of which begin at the Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium tomorrow.

PSPB men and RBI women retain team titles


Panchkula, December 19: There was no change to the scripts. The Petroleum Sports Promotion Board men and the Reserve Bank of India women retained their team titles in the 85th UTT Senior Nationals and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships at the Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium.

PSPB, Delhi men and RBI, TN women enter team finals


Panchkula, December 18: The men's teams of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board and Delhi entered the final of UTT Senior Nationals and Inter-State Table Tennis Championships at the Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium here today.

 

PSPB defeated AAI 2-1 and Delhi routed Maharashtra 3-0 to earn the final berths. The women’s final will be between RBI and Tamil Nadu like in the previous edition. RBI beat Maharashtra 3-1 and Tamil Nadu accounted for the Railways 3-0.
