Anirban and Archana win Games singles gold


Panaji, November 2: Third-seeded Anirban Ghosh from West Bengal blanked out fifth-seeded Yashansh Malik of Delhi 4-0 in the men's singles final to win gold in the table tennis events of the National Games at the Campal Indoor Stadium today.

 

As in the men's final, Archana Kamath from Karnataka made it a one-sided affair to claim the women's singles gold after beating Diya Chitale from Maharashtra 4-1.

Three men seeds live to fight on the final day


Panaji, November 1: Third-seeded Anirban Ghosh, fifth-seeded Yashansh Malik and seventh-seeded Ankur Bhattacharya stood out with their performance in the men's singles even as other seeds fell by the wayside in the table tennis events of the National Games at the Campal Indoor Stadium today.

Delhi men and Maharashtra women win gold


Panaji, October 30: The men from Delhi and women from Maharashtra emerged as champions to win the team championships gold in the table tennis events at the Campal Indoor Stadium today.

 

Delhi beat West Bengal 3-1, as did Maharashtra against Haryana in their final with an identical scoreline. Both had finished with a silver medal each in the last edition.

Maharashtra, WB women teams top groups


Panaji, October 29: Keeping a clean slate, West Bengal women thumped their opponents in Group B to enter the semifinals on the first day of the table tennis team events at the Campal Indoor Stadium today.

 

Their score over their rivals was a strong statement and Maharashtra blanked out Karnataka 3-0 to top Group A and Haryana defeated Delhi 3-2 in a thriller to join the leader as the second team from the group.
