Sanil proves left is right; Manika snatches her 3rd title


Ajmer, November 29: Left proved right in a long time. And Sanil Shankar Shetty defeated Arjun Gosh 4-2 in the men's singles final to lift his maiden title in the 49th Inter-Institutional Table Tennis Championships at the MCC Indoor Stadium here today.

 

The women singles crown went the way of Manika Batra after she managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat to beat Reeth Rishya, who wilted under pressure after leading 3-1, to win 4-3.

Ajmer, November 29: In a remarkable match of one-upmanship, 12th seeded Arjun Ghosh from Airports Authority of India (AAI) proved the stuffing he is made of when he toppled No. 1 seed title-favourites Manav Thakkar 4-2 in the men's singles semi-final of the 49th Inter-Institutional Table Tennis Championships at the MCC Indoor Stadium here today.

Reeth causes a stir as seeds Ayhika and Madhurika exit


Ajmer, November 28 Unseeded Reeth Rishya caused the major upset of the day when she defeated No. 3 seed Ayhika Mukherjee 4-1 to enter the quarterfinals of the 49th Inter-Institutional Table Tennis Championships at the MCC Indoor Stadium here today.

 

The day also saw a few other seeds being sent back but Reeth’s was a revelation as the talented PSPB paddler showed glimpses of her past.
