Sathiyan retains title, Suthirtha new champ

Sathiyan stopped giant killer Manav Thakkar on his tracks to beat him 4-to regain the men’s singles title in the AAI 46th All India Inter-Institutional Championships at the SMS Indoor Stadium here today. For Sathiyan, it was the second institutional title, the first of which came at New Delhi in 2012.

Jaipur, July 28: Rio Games qualifier Manika Batra, seeded second here, No. 3 seed Reeth Rishya along with sixth and seven seeds K. Shamini and Shruti Amrute bowed out in the women’s singles pre-quarterfinals of the AAI 46th All India Inter-Institutional Championships at the SMS Indoor Stadium here today.
Of the four women that fell by the wayside, three belonged to the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) while Shruti represents Air India.
PSPB-AAI showdown in mixed final
Jaipur, July 27: The Petroleum Sports Promotion Board’s pair of G. Sathiyan and Ankita Das will take on Airports Authority of India’s Ronit Bhanja and Ayhika Mukhrjee in the mixed doubles final of the AAI 46th All India Inter-Institutional Championships at the SMS Indoor Stadium here tomorrow.
