The 11Sports 79th Cadet and Sub-Junior Nationals got underway soon after the formal inauguration of the event at the beautiful SP Mukherjee Stadium when state Minister for Town and Country Planning, Vijay Sardesai, did the honours.
The inauguration also marked march-past by all participating teams, coaches and managers with several dignitaries, including president of Goa Table Tennis Association, Vero Nunes, and other officials of GTTA present on the dais. It was a short and sweet inauguration, devoid of any lengthy speeches, followed by the Minister declaring the championships open.
Goa, which is preparing to host the 36th National Games in November 2018, will most likely use indoor the same venue for conducting the table tennis event as it did the last time when the third Lusofonia Games were held in2014.
