New venue, new avenue!

After the success of season’s first event in South Zone, the National Ranking Table Tennis (Central Zone) Championships will be held at Jamnagar, a part of the Kutch region in Gujarat. Last year, the Central Zone event was held at Indore, but the advantage of the Kutch is that it qualifies to host both the Central as well as West Zone events.

For instance, Gandhidham had been hosting either the Central or West Zone championships successively. In fact, Gandhidham last year played hosts to West Zone championships. But this year, the Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA) has chosen Janmagar as the venue for the Central event.

Jamnagar, formerly a princely state, is the fifth largest city of Gujarat and has several tourist attractions. It means, those coming for the National Ranking championships here can spend some wonderful moments, taking time off from their busy playing schedule. For the parents that accompany the children, it will be a great experience.

After an encouraging record number of entries for the South Zone championships, Jamnagar, too, can hope for a repeat. The floor is set and it is awaiting the domestic stars to descend on it. The championships dates are: October 6 to 11, 2015.
