Thiruvananthapuram, October 27: Aditya Das needed no second invitation to wrap up the all-Bengal Under-13 Boys final 3-0 against Himon Mondal after winning the first game easily in the second UTT National Ranking Championships at the Jimmy George Indoor Stadium here today.

Aditya Das had a big struggle on his hands, especially in the first two games against Akash Rajavelu of Tamil Nadu. The two extended games put Aditya in trouble, but he got lucky to win the third game points twice over. Once he accomplished the wins, it was all easy for him in the third as Akash dropped his guards and Aditya seized the moments to win 3-0.

Himon Mondal took the lead only to drop the second game to Param Bhiwandkar of Maharashtra. Though Param won the extended game, he could not press home the advantage as Himon took control of the match to enter the Under-13 Boys final with a 3-1 verdict.

Ankolika led 2-0 in the final, but Prateeti recovered well to level the score. After losing the first two games cheaply, Ankolika seemed on course. But Prateeti made most of the negative points to inch her way slowly but steadily. In the end, it was Ankolika who had the last laugh.  

Anokolika, the U-13 title favourite, was off-colour in the semifinal as her opponent Shreya Dhar, also from Bengal, fought well to stretch her in the first two games. However, she won the second and failed to take advantage from thereon. Ankolika grabbed the opportunity well to finish the next two games in style for a 3-1 scoreline. Prateeti Paul had a bad opening but steadied herself as the match progressed to win the three subsequent games to enter the final. 

TITLES FOR ARIV AND SHAYANA 

Ariv Dutta of NCOE, Kolkata, defeated Ansh Khamar of Gujarat 3-0 in the U-11 Boys final to lift the trophy, and Shayana Tyagi of Delhi beat Debanshi Chakraborty of West Bengal, also by the same margin, to wear the Girls crown.

Ariv Dutta won the first U-11 semifinal against Prahnav Balaji of Tamil Nadu 3-0. However, Ansh Khamar gathered courage after dropping the first game to beat Gem Mahalanabish from West Bengal 3-1. But in both semifinals, the winners went with the flow and didn't have to do much except keep the ball in play.

Shayana Tyagi had little difficulty putting it across Titash Chatterjee of West Bengal as the Delhi girl blanked her out. In the second semifinal, Debanshi Chakraborty overcame stiff resistance from Siddhi Singh of Delhi before entering the final with a 3-2 verdict. 

Preeti Paul did well to surprise state mate Ahona Ray in their semifinal in the U-13 category and won 3-1. Preeti, caught on the wrong foot, lost the first game before winning the next three to go through.
