Former GSTTA secretary Sangtani is no more

 

Haresh Sitaldas Sangtani, former secretary of Gujarat State Table Tennis Association (GSTTA) and a former vice-president of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), breathed his last in Ahmedabad this morning, following a prolonged illness. He, who turned 62 a couple of days ago, is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

Sonal for Tokyo Games

 

Sonal Ben Patel will be the second para Table Tennis player, representing India In the Paralympic Games, to be held in Tokyo from August 24. Sonal, in Class 3, was allotted entry from bipertite slot by the ITTF. Bhavina Ben Patel was the first athlete to secure her place fir the Tokyo Games.

Tokyo-bound paddlers get a 19-day camp boost

 

Three of the four Olympics-bound paddlers-A. Sharath Kamal, Manika Batra, and Sutirtha Mukherjee-will finally get their chance to train together at a 19-day camp before they board their flight to Tokyo. G. Sathiyan, however, will continue training in Chennai under his coach S. Raman.

The Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) president Dushyant Chautala and Secretary General Arun Kumar Banerjee paid rich tributes to former national champion V. Chandrasekhar, who passed away in a Chennai hospital where he was admitted last week for COVID-19 treatment.

Indian table tennis on Wednesday became poorer with the loss of V. Chandrasekhar, a player par excellence and a coach that had the eyes to spot talent. He was 63 and is survived by his wife and a son.
